Linear Movement - Pioneer Square Artwalk
Linear Movement
Please join me during the Pioneer Square Artwalk for the opening reception of Linear Movement a collection of my newest artworks:
Essa Baird is an interdisciplinary artist whose focus is on abstract sculptural weaving. "Linear Movement" is Essa’s first solo exhibition delving into the rich potential of abstract sculptural weaving to forge both literal and conceptual connections. By exploring diverse materials and processes, Baird creates visually compelling works that explore the connective nature of the craft.
Drawing inspiration from the history of weaving, basketry, and ceramics—crafts traditionally linked to women and used for storytelling and record-keeping—she traces connections between the craft's legacy, her own familial relationships and the concept of genetic memory, while also exploring the use of different materials and processes to create visually interesting pieces.
This exhibition offers a first insight into her ongoing exploration of material, craft, and meaning.
Additional Info:
2/6: Opening Reception & Art Walk - 4:00 - 9:00 NOTE: FREE PARKING DURING ART WALK!
2/15: Artists' Reception: 11:00 - 4:00.
STUDIO 103 HOURS: Saturdays 11:00 - 4:00, or by appointment
STUDIO 103 is a collaboration of 4 artists-in-residence in the Tashiro Kaplan Building in Seattle's Pioneer Square. New and emerging artists are featured each month along with our resident artists Zeynep Banu Alev, Joy Hagen, Germain Mitacc and Gamze Seckin.

Eel And The Electrician Opening | Art Attack
Eel And The Electrician Opening
Electricity is all around us keeping us warm, connected and alive. Mixing this current with water is typically dangerous, however, the eel elegantly sustains life in such an environment. Inspired by the rebellious nature of our aquatic friend and the energy that electricity provides, this show invites you to explore lawlessness, illumination and elegance in the form of art.
Join us at the Side Rail Collective on October 14th for an art show and the soft opening of Eel and the Electrician - a burgeoning lifestyle market and mocktail bar. We provide a collection of high quality products with a punky aesthetic and curated mocktails with a fermented jolt.
Artists from the Side Rail Collective art studio will portray their works alongside local artists and friends at the historic Bertoli Hall in Georgetown, Seattle. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be offered in the Hinge Studio - a resident architecture firm - space.
Eel and the Electrician is a burgeoning lifestyle market making its soft debut at this show. We will provide a mocktail bar and a pop-up shop offering a curated collection of housewares, trinkets and apparel.

A Sticky Hot Melty Start to Summer
Inspired by the fever dreams of childhood summer street carnivals, this show uses color and wild surreal imagery and form to evoke the energy and intensity of those youthful days. Do you remember the bright whirling colors and electric energy of crowds, carnival rides, food and games? Do you remember the sensation of ice cream dripping across sticky fingers while waves of heat from sun drenched black top leave us wanting to plunge mindlessly into any body of water. We hope this show will help you remember.

West Seattle Art Walk
Find me at Zelda Zonk Consignment all month long!
Essa Baird is an interdisciplinary artist whose primary focus is on abstract painting and sculpture. She works intuitively with processes and material portraying a rare interpretation of color, line, texture, and repetition. The juxtaposition of materials is at the center of her work; clay, canvas, and wood could appear as the base for pigment, beads, and thread.
